On The Road

Started a little late at 8:45 a.m. but had a good pace going.

The official stage is longer than we wanted to walk, so we broke it in two. Today took us past beautiful beaches and along the top of coastal cliffs.

We had the Cantabrian  Sea breaking on the rocks below us.

At the end of today's walk, a taxi took us back to Portugalete.

Tomorrow we will taxi back to Ontón and walk to Castro Urdiales.

Another big, good value Menu del Día before returning to the albergue where it was a quiet night.

Random Thought of the Day

It was so nice to break out of the urban areas and walk the North Coast of Spain.
Haven't made it into the ocean yet, but that is definitely on my to-do list. ... Ok, so we did make it to the coastline.

Meaningful Moment / Notable Memories

So I was checking the weather this morning before we headed out, and I see that most of Spain is bracing for a record heatwave with temperatures of 44° C / 111 F in certain parts.
That makes me so happy to be up here on the Norte because we are not experiencing that hot weather. Today's high should be about 80° f.

We meet a fellow pilgrim today who hails from Madrid. His name was Jorge, and he was Romanian. We'l had some good convo as we walked. He was stopping farther on than us.
