On The Road

9:00 a.m. Cafe Con leche, orange juice and tostada in the neighborhood bar. Mary and Deb are at the laundry service to dry some clothes.

11:30 a.m. Alsa bus to Oviedo.

1:00 p.m. Mary made her connecting bus literally with 30 seconds to spare. We are in Oviedo.

Walked with Deb up the street to the restaurant De Norte al Sur where we had a great local meal.
Returned to the hotel and rested a bit.

Headed out in the early evening hours to explore some places to visit tomorrow. 
Made it to the cathedral, the museum of fine arts, the public market and many many packed and crowded plazas.
So we have lots to explore tomorrow.

With Mary leaving for home, our group of three has suddenly become a group of two.

A.m.  Found a coffee shop while near the Guggenheim.  Then took off again crossing over to the east side of the Ria Bilbao.  Lots of shade as we were walking, which was good as in the sun it was hot. We were using Gronze and the Buen Camino guides.  Both indicated that the much more scenic route was to the South, but it was also about 3 mi longer.  Both also indicated that the two alternate routes for a much more urbanized.  Our route turned out to be

Two Weeks To Go

Visited the physical therapist (Alex) yesterday, and she again strongly suggested that I give up pickleball with the Camino departure date so close. This time I listened, espeially because she gave me something else that I could do in the interim that would both help the hamstring slowly continue to heal, as well as replace the activity level of pickleball. So I am very measuredly adding jogging back to the routine.  It is more walking than jogging, but if it helps me heal, then that is a good thing. Training My Baltour backpack feels good. Packed everything well last night, so that when the alarm went off, I was able to jump out of bed, grab my backpack and head out to the community area without disturbing anyone else.  Waiting on the taxi in Portugalete to return us to Ontón and then we start walking. 9:10 a.m. Just finished a 1.25 mile 10% upgrade climb in just over an hour. Did not really plan on starting the morning by really working up a sweat.  10:20 a.m.
