Interesting stretch of trail this morning. Although almost everything else is relatively easy: pavement, farm roads, old highways sections.



Random Thought of the Day

Just two more days of hiking.
Tomorrow will be hot with lots of sun. Never fun
The day after will be shorter by about a mile, but waiting on the weather report. 

Emailed the backpack transport company to see if we can get a reservation for tomorrow. Hot weather with lots of sun and just not feeling like taking the backpack along for the trip. Hopefully we can get the reservation.

Meaningful Moment / Notable Memories

The albergue tonight is in a very peaceful countryside location with lots of green all around. Very restful.

Once again an amazing Community meal. 
We are sharing stories between two Americans, one Italian woman, one Swiss man, one German young man, and our Spanish hosts.

We were on the road by 8:00. A.m.  Found a coffee shop while near the Guggenheim.  Then took off again crossing over to the east side of the Ria Bilbao.  Lots of shade as we were walking, which was good as in the sun it was hot. We were using Gronze and the Buen Camino guides.  Both indicated that the much more scenic route was to the South, but it was also about 3 mi longer.  Both also indicated that the two alternate routes for a much more urbanized.  Our route turned out to be

Two Weeks To Go

Visited the physical therapist (Alex) yesterday, and she again strongly suggested that I give up pickleball with the Camino departure date so close. This time I listened, espeially because she gave me something else that I could do in the interim that would both help the hamstring slowly continue to heal, as well as replace the activity level of pickleball. So I am very measuredly adding jogging back to the routine.  It is more walking than jogging, but if it helps me heal, then that is a good thing. Training My Baltour backpack feels good. Packed everything well last night, so that when the alarm went off, I was able to jump out of bed, grab my backpack and head out to the community area without disturbing anyone else.  Waiting on the taxi in Portugalete to return us to Ontón and then we start walking. 9:10 a.m. Just finished a 1.25 mile 10% upgrade climb in just over an hour. Did not really plan on starting the morning by really working up a sweat.  10:20 a.m.
