On The Road

First half was a lot of dirt roads with farm fields on both sides. Beautiful.
Last third of the day was road walking and urban areas.
But we have completed the last day of our 2024 Camino.

Random Thought of the Day

This Camino had been another special time with Deb.
This is our third time to Spain for an extended hiking vacation / experience / adventure on the Camino de Santiago.

Tomorrow Deb and I take the bus from Ribadeo to Bilbao for a rest day.

Then we fly home, and back to the routine.

Meaningful Moment / Notable Memories

Got a lesson from the Camino today. As they say, the Camino provides what you need, not what you want.

What I wanted today was a nice, easy walk with no worries or concerns into Ribadeo, our absolute final stop on this Camino.

Instead what I got was an unexpected extra long first segment of just about 8 and 1/2 Mi with no services. This is not how I read the guide which said that we would be able to get water and something to eat at several places along the way. Did not happen.

Obviously I was a little arrogant in thinking that I understood the Camino and the guide.

The lesson I learned was that no matter how sure I am, always have a plan B, which today would have simply been carrying a few provisions.

On any normal day I would have, but I didn't because it was the last day and it was supposed to be very easy.

Just some random images of beautiful countryside on our last day of walking

Entering Ribadeo. Only two miles to go.

Leaving Asturias. Entering Galicia. One more mile

The end of Camino 2024 on the Norte

Something to eat before check in.
Galician typical soup of meat and potatoes
Mussels in a special sauce
Fried green pimientos
